The sizzling star wore a raunchy leather one-piece with just a small strip of lace covering her bum as she sang during half-time in a match that saw the Baltimore Ravens beat San Francisco 49ers 34-31.
But within minutes of her smoking display, the floodlights went out around half The Superdome, in New Orleans, and the scoreboard froze.
Anxious players from the Baltimore Ravens and San Francisco 49ers had to wait more than half-an-hour before they could start the game again.
And Twitter users joked that Beyonce’s explosive routine was responsible for the power cut
Singer Kelly Clarkson said: “The force and power that is Beyonce just shut the Super Bowl down ha! Too funny!”
British telly host Cat Deeley added: “Beyonce blew the lights! BOOM!!!!!!!”
Beyonce, 31, had opened her show in a cloud of smoke and entertained the 70,000 crowd alongside a flaming guitar.
After singing a medley of her solo hits, the scantily clad diva was joined on stage by her Destiny’s Child bandmates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams.
