The soup and noodle dish has a specially carved pocket to place an iPhone or similar device in it upright – so diners can use their handsets while eating.
Developed in the Far East, the Anti-Loneliness Ramen bowl allows users to eat a meal properly with two hands, while still interacting on their phone.
MisoSoupDesign founders, Daisuke Nagatomo and Minnie Jan, said the idea came from seeing a man eating alone in a noodle restaurant.
They explained: “He had chopsticks in one hand and a phone in the other.
“We saw the problem of needing a third hand while eating.
“The design was to ‘restore’ the proper table manners while eating noodles or soup.
“Now, you have both hands free to use chopsticks and a spoon!”
The design was so successful in Tokyo that it will be in shops by spring.
