Determining your body shape is the first step to knowing how to dress in which your body looks best. There are generally four body types. It depends on your bust, waist and hip size.
Here are the five common body shapes
Pear,Spoon or Bell shape: A natural shape, your shoulders and bust are narrower than your waist and hips. With your slim upper body and pronounced bottom,hip measurements are greater than their bust measurements. embrace your delicious shape with an accentuated waistline. Banana or Straight: this shape has many aliases: ruler, boy, or rectangle shape – Lacking in natural curves, the Banana shape is the most common. Your shoulders, bust, waist and hips will be straight. You will have to create a waist cause waist measurement is less than 9 inches smaller than the hip or bust measurement. Try banded waistlines with ruched fabric to create a “cinched” look. You can also embrace your boyish figure with a Flapper style dress. Draped fabric adds dimension, so a wrap dress or a flowing Grecian style gown will enhance your shape.
Hourglass: Shaped exactly as it looks, Hourglass shape has almost equal size in hip and bust.The hourglass figure is distributed evenly at the bust, cinches tight at the waist, and then flows out at the hips. A variety of silhouettes and styles compliment this figure.
And there are also women with Wedge or Athletic body: If you’re blessed with an athletic body, you have broad shoulders, a tiny waist, and hips the same size as your waist. To give the allusion of the hourglass figure with your athletic shape, wear a dress with a cinched waist, strapless neckline and a full skirt. Or show off your toned, athletic legs with a short bubble skirt cocktail dress.
